QUIROZ VELASQUEZ, Jesús Di Cario et al. Quantification by HPLC of Thymol and Carvacrol Content in Lippia Graveolens HBK s.l., Native from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, México. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2017, vol.34, n.1, pp.33-39. ISSN 0250-5460.

ABSTRACT Most of the studies in Tamaulipas Lippia graveolens HBK s.l, are based on agronomic conditions; therefore, it is of interest to carry out studies of the quality of its essential oils depending on the content of thymol and carvacrol. The optimized methodology included, the use of a HPLC Hewlett Packard System ® Model 1100, the column employed is RP-C18, 150 mm long and 4.6 mm intemal diameter detector is set to a wavelength of 280 nm, with an injection volume 20 uL, flow 1.0 mL / min, 10 min run time. The samples come from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, identified as Rey 01-A, Rey 01-B (Oxford site) contain on average 49.92 ppm and 19.92 ppm carvacrol and thymol, Viad 01-A, Viad 01 -B (Viaducto site) contain on average 53.04 ppm and 11.65 ppm carvacrol and thymol, and Rey 02-A, Rey 02-B (Esfuerzo site) containing on average 102.32 ppm and 0.0 ppm carvacrol and thymol respectively. The chemical composition that was present in the population of Lippia graveolens HBK s.l, present in the municipality of Reynosa Tamaulipas belongs to the chemotype Carvacrol, with the ability to inhibit the growth of bacterial strains, and can be used as an additive to prevent contamination in food.
