Resumen

CHUI BETANCUR, Heber Nehemías; ACOSTA NAJARRO, Dwight Roberto  y  OLIVERA DE LESCANO, Paula Ofelia. Characterization of sediments deposited on the roof of houses near the plant cesur s.a. in Caracoto district, Peru. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2016, vol.33, n.2, pp.43-49. ISSN 0250-5460.

In this paper, the presence of the crystalline phases, the size of particulate matter (PM) and chemical characterization of sediments deposited on the roofs constructed with sheet metal grooved of homes near the cement plant in the district of Caracoto, San Roman, Puno, Peru, were determined. The crystalline phases studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy were: calcite, quartz, antigorite and anatase, present in the sediment samples, related to the chemical processes inside the furnaces. Chemical elements with higher concentration attributed to the cement industry, such as Ca> Si> Al> Fe, and traces of elements such as Zr> Ba> Mn> Cr> Pb were analyzed by X-ray fluorescence. Sediments in both sides (one that was stuck to the internal face of the foil corrugated and the other that was exposed to the air) were studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), with differences in topological and chemical level. Also the photomicrographs obtained by MEB were studied allowing thus the calculation of the size and percentage of particulate matter.
