Abstract

VALDIVIA ZAMBRANA¹, Hernán Boris  and  ALMANZA VEGA², Giovanna. Evaluation of the effect of macronutrients from human urine as fertilizer in the grow of Lactuca Sativa. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2016, vol.33, n.1, pp.20-26. ISSN 0250-5460.

This research allows us to evaluate and quantify the contribution of macronutrients in lettuce, the effect of the addition of different volumes of fermented human urine samples selected for this purpose; obtaining results in weight percent for potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen and other nutrients, while the water content, ash and fiber samples analyzed was determined. Another aspect is the composition of nutrients in human urine, whose contribution in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is vital for the growth of plants, so that the behavior of human urine as fertilizer in the irrigation of lettuce in the department of La Paz is an alternative work to substantially improve the production of vegetables. This experience constitutes a novel technique that is generating food production with high nutritional value not only in lettuce (Lactuca sativa) variety crespa, but in other highly consumed vegetables. The results show this alimentary plant with higher nutritional percentage in potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus, compared with reported values. This difference is due in part to the reaction of the nutrients of the fermented human urine and other nutrients from the soil where samples of lettuce were grown. The contribution of Lactuca sativa in relation to bromatological parameters: ashes, water and fiber is very significant and important when compared with other vegetables like carrots, radishes, etc. While the contribution in minerals, vitamins and other components can improve food diet based on these products, all of high human consumption due to its low cost in the market.
