Abstract
AMURRIO ORDONEZ, Patricia and POMA SAJAMA, Violeta. Physicochemical properties and seasonal variations of soils in an altitudinal transect of the lluto county, La Paz, Bolivia. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2015, vol.32, n.4, pp.74-81. ISSN 0250-5460.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in the physico-chemical properties of soils along an altitudinal transect (4187- 3825 m) in the town of Lluto, La Paz, Bolivia, as well as the seasonal variations in two annual cycles (dry and wet seasons). The study area was selected for development in the place of two plant species with potential as Phytotherapic and Cosmeceutic, Baccharis latifolia and B. papillosa, whose production has scientific and economic interest. The results show that some physicochemical properties of soils have significant correlation with altitude, among these, the limo % (= 0.79),% clay (= -0.74), pH (= -0.67), conductivity / cm) (= -0.75),% organic carbon (= 0.61), % total nitrogen (= 0.80), available phosphorus (ppm) (= -0.57), sodium (= -0.69) and exchangeable magnesium (= -0.37) (cmol/kg). Seasonal differences did not affect the physicochemical properties of the soils, only the soil moisture (%) showed significant differences, presenting higher humidity in the months corresponding to the rainy season. Comparing two sites with different slope exposure (southeast and southwest), we showed the existence of significant differences in organic carbon content (%), total nitrogen (%), exchangeable calcium and magnesium (cmol/kg), and these (except magnesium) were higher on the hillside with southeast
