Abstract

QUINO, Israel  and  QUINTANILLA, Jorge. ÍNDICE DE CALIDAD DEL AGUA EN LA CUENCA DEL LAGO POOPÓ -URU URU APLICANDO HERRAMIENTAS SIG. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2013, vol.30, n.1, pp.91-101. ISSN 0250-5460.

The spatialization of possible contaminants in bodies of water within the Lake Poopó and observing their changes according to time, are of utmost importance for the analysis of this problem, from this analysis can establish an index water quality, allowing assessment of water quality spatially throughout the basin. We assessed the quality of water in the Lake Poopó - Uru Uru, based on a water quality index that is obtained by taking into account a classification of the chemical analysis results with respect to the permissible limits considered in the development of CAMINAR project, these are expressed as a percentage of puré water and highly contaminated water ICA will cióse or equal to zero percent, while in the water in excellent condition index valué will be cióse to 100%, this rate will apply tools for Geographic Information System (mathematical interpolation) for optimal viewing through maps that can be interpreted very simply by the general public. The water quality index spatialized throughout the basin, shows that agricultural áreas have higher water quality, most mining áreas have lower water quality and evidenced the phenomenon of dissolution of minerals and salts from the soil by groundwater and surface water
