BELLOT, Ilcia et al. DEGRADACION DE CLOROFENOLES EN SOLUCIONES SINTETICAS UTILIZANDO HONGOS H3. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2011, vol.28, n.2, pp.102-105. ISSN 0250-5460.

ABSTRACT   The National Herbarium of Bolivia collected wood-degrading fungi in La Asunta region. The objective was fungi used as a chlorophenol-degrading agent. The fungus H3.ssp (without speciation) was selected in an in vitro culture due to its degrading capacity, quantifying three organochlorine compounds: 4-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol and 5-chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) phenol or Triclosan. Samples were taken from the culture broth extract. The parameters evaluated were the kinetics of absorption and desorption of chlorophenolic compounds made by fungi (absorbate), using the technique of quantifying the initial and final concentrations by gas chromatography. The maximal adsorption of chlorophenols by fungi was obtained for Triclosan H3 followed by the 2.4-dichlorophenol and finally the 4-chlorophenol. The adsorption affinity towards more substituted chlorophenols is due to the low polarity that is according to: the more substitutions has the phenol the less soluble is in polar solvents (water). Chlorophenols trapped by H3 fungi were clearly pH dependent, therefore, the adsorption of chlorophenols increases as a function of pH. Desorption of chlorophenols was achieved using methanol 30% v / v. And finally it has been reported that H3 fungi are suitable for its use for more than 5 cycles without noticeable loss of adsorption capacity
