Starane^® is a herbicide used massively in soybean production, its active ingredient is fluroxypyr methylhepthyl ester (FMHE). Soil samples were collected from locations in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba. The obtained K_d and K_oc values are 8 ml g^-1 and 401 ml g^-1. The infiltration tests applying 1.74 times the FMHE field dose rendered a recovery of less than 1% FMHE. FMHE was only found in the leachates of soils with gravel and high sand contents. Hight contents of organic matter and salts were associated with a bigger and smaller sorption of FMHE in soil, respectively. FMHE was detected in four rivers and one well in Santa Cruz.
