Abstract

VARGAS, Paul E.; DE GROOT, Walter  and  VANDECASTEELE, Carlo. CONTAMINACION DEL AGUA Y SUBSUELO POR EL USO DEL FLUROXIPIR METILHEPTIL ESTER EN CULTIVOS DE SOYA EN LA LOCALIDAD DE CHANÉ EN EL DEPARTAMENTO DE SANTA CRUZ. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2005, vol.22, n.1, pp.43-51. ISSN 0250-5460.

Starane® is a herbicide used massively in soybean production, its active ingredient is fluroxypyr methylhepthyl ester (FMHE). Soil samples were collected from locations in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba. The obtained Kd and Koc values are 8 ml g-1 and 401 ml g-1. The infiltration tests applying 1.74 times the FMHE field dose rendered a recovery of less than 1% FMHE. FMHE was only found in the leachates of soils with gravel and high sand contents. Hight contents of organic matter and salts were associated with a bigger and smaller sorption of FMHE in soil, respectively. FMHE was detected in four rivers and one well in Santa Cruz.

Keywords : Herbicide; Starane; Santa Cruz; soybean; fluroxypyr methylhepthyl ester; intact soil; leaching; Kd; Koc; sorption.
