An abridgement and updated overview on the advances over the theoretical studies of solvent effects on nuclear and molecular properties is given. After introducing the general scheme of the calculation procedure, some problems associated with the different steps of the method are discussed. Finally, several recent results on vibrational spectra, nuclear quadrupole coupling constants and chemical shieldings in nuclear magnetresonance are analyzed.
