Abstract

SALM, Hans  and  CASTRO CABERO, Janeth. PROPIEDADES QUÍMICAS Y POTENCIAL PRODUCTIVO DE LOS SUELOS DEL DEPARTAMENTO DE LA PAZ, BOLIVIA. Rev. Bol. Quim [online]. 2005, vol.22, n.1, pp.19-26. ISSN 0250-5460.

The Department of La Paz comprises a wide variety of ecosystems, where different soil types were formed under specific climate conditions. In the western Cordillera and the high plateau, poorly evolved soils prevail, with low organic contents and a moderately acid to slightly basic soil reaction (pH). On the eastern slope of the Cordillera Real and the Beni lowlands, highly developed soils with strong acid reaction and variable organic contents are found. The soils of the Titicaca region, interandean valleys and some places in the Yungas show the best potential productivity.

Keywords : soil chemistry; La Paz.
