MORALES, Nicolas; MORALES, Samantha; ANDINO, Daniel  e  HERNANDEZ, Dayana. Towards a Latin American Philosophy: Criticism, authenticity and breaking with Eurocentrism. Temas Sociales [online]. 2025, n.57, pp.189-202.  Epub 30-Nov-2025. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/wsts5841zx45f.

This paper aims to reflect on how philosophical developments in Latin America in the 19th and 20th centuries have contributed to the consolidation of a distinct, critical philosophy that stands in opposition to the Eurocentric paradigm. Based on the thinking of prominent authors in the region such as Leopoldo Zea, Salazar Bondy, Anibal Quijano, Adriana María Arpini, and Arturo Andres Roig, we can call for the affirmation of a philosophical voice of our own, conceived from its origins, seen from “below,” from colonization to the awareness of exclusion, which allows us to think about ourselves and challenge the structures of domination. In this context, the research proposes that philosophy in Latin America should be a call to vindicate philosophical thought from a new historical, social, and cultural reality.

Palavras-chave : Eurocentrism; philosophy; thought,; coloniality; identity; Latin America.
