NAVA CERBALL, Raquel; WINS PORTA, Catalina e PENARRIETA GONZALEZ, Montserrat. Gender-based violence and bolivian university: roots of the problem to the present. Temas Sociales [online]. 2024, n.55, pp.137-161. Epub 01-Nov-2024. ISSN 0040-2915. https://doi.org/10.53287/qkfp1267oc47t.
This article is a state of the art on what has been written about gender-based violence (GBV) in the university setting. We begin with an overview of anthropological approaches to GBV in general that have helped to understand the root of the problem. We then review advances in GBV research it universities in the Global North, and those in the region that are more recent and scarce. These efforts have helped to generate protocols and public policies to address the problem. However, there are still obstacles within universities to apply tools to help with the prevention and eradication of GBV. Finally, we summarize existing initiatives in Bolivia to address the problem, as well as reflections within our university.
