The research characterizes the maritime rhetoric proposed by the Plurinational State of Bolivia in the context of the maritime demand before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). To this end, this article focuses on the process of hegemonic articulation-reconstruction that is reflected in Bolivia’s maritime claim between 2013 and 2018. This research encompasses three textual bodies. The first is aimed at theoretically and methodologically delimiting the subject studied. The second focuses on characterizing contemporary Bolivian maritime rhetoric, including its historical narratives, national imaginaries, discourses, and representations. The final section is devoted to reflecting, in dialogue with the theoretical proposal on nation, nationalisms, and imaginaries, on what is proposed in this research.
