Abstract

CHOQUE ALDANA, Marlene. Victimization and resilience: experiences of survivors of attempted feminicide in Bolivia. Temas Sociales [online]. 2024, n.54, pp.11-32.  Epub May 01, 2024. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/rbko4719tx46q.

This article presents the main findings of research on the trajectories of violence and resilience of women survivors of attempted intimate feminicide in the cities of La Paz and El Alto, Bolivia. The research aimed to fill the gap due to the absence of the victims’ perspective in studies on feminicide. It adopted the notion of feminicidal violence as a continuum and process, as opposed to the conception of femicide as a puntual consummated fact. Based on a series of narrative biographical interviews, the trajectories of victimization (vortexes in which the loss of autonomy of the victims and the feeling of ownership over them by the aggressors increase) and the trajectories of resilience (in which families and circles determination, commitment to the children, altruism, the decision to fulfill certain tasks) and specialized therapy were relevant.

Keywords : Feminicide; violence; feminicide violence; resilience; women survivors; structural violence; controlling couples; biographic approach; La Paz; El Alto; Bolivia.
