Abstract

ZELADA ESPEJO, Natalia Libertad. Actions of women traders facing of risks during the Covid-19 pandemic. Temas Sociales [online]. 2023, n.53, pp.119-148.  Epub Nov 30, 2023. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/jnoi6251yu42e.

The purpose of this article is to publicize the actions carried out by women traders of essential items in the face of the risks of not generating income and sanctions during the Covid-19 pandemic. For this, field work was carried out in three different supply centers in the city of La Paz, Bolivia, between 2020 and 2021. One of the main implications of the pandemic was the determination of the rigid quarantine that involved the suspension of different economic activities and the restriction of the right to movement, this threatened the subsistence of different workers who live from day to day. Faced with this, one of the main conclusions of this work is that the subsistence of many families would have been impossible without the participation and combative leadership of women to continue generating their economic income on a daily basis.
