Abstract

CHOQUEHUANCA CALLISAYA, Ramiro Javier. Towards a sociology of health in Bolivia. Temas Sociales [online]. 2022, n.51, pp.127-153.  Epub Nov 30, 2022. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/bxqm1620nt30g.

In Latin America, the confluence between social and health sciences is a transcendental event, even more due to the new problems and questions produced by COVID-19. Medicine and, very slightly, sociology have developed critical perspectives of study in the field of health, an aspect little attended by Bolivian sociology. Given this reality, this article offers a general balance regarding the development of the sociology of health. With this, we tend to approach the socio-health and research context in Bolivia to think about health as a possible field of research from, in, and for Bolivian sociology.

Keywords : health sociology; medical sociology; early health sociology; health-disease process; sociological audacity.
