Abstract

VERA ZEGARRA, Mircko. Digital natives and social inequality in public schools in La Paz city. Temas Sociales [online]. 2022, n.51, pp.11-34.  Epub Nov 30, 2022. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/gbpk4780zd98p.

The article provides information on the situation of education after a forced transition to virtuality as a result of COVID-19 and also poses challenges for education today. The situation of 5th and 6th grade secondary school students, their families and teachers in 16 public schools in La Paz during 2020 and 2021 was analysed. The lack of digital devices and connectivity are only part of the problem, as behind them lie social and educational inequalities that cannot be solved by material possession alone.

Keywords : education; covid-19; social inequalities; digital appropriation.
