Abstract

SUÁREZ, Hugo José. The faces of Pierre Bourdieu in Latin America. Temas Sociales [online]. 2021, n.49, pp.120-137. ISSN 0040-2915.  https://doi.org/10.53287/gmzz2481ng44k.

The article analyzes the impact of Bourdieu’s sociology in both Bolivia and Mexico. In the case of Bolivia, we talk about his political position against neoliberalism and the consequences of social movements. In Mexico, the reception of his work was mainly academic rather than political, installing a research agenda in various fields of study. These two experiences show the varied ways of “appropriation” of Bourdieu’s thought.

Keywords : Pierre Bourdieu; sociology in Latin America; Bolivia and Mexico.
