Abstract

MOLLERICONA ALFARO, Danny Daniel. Three central themes in the sociology of social/public problems. Temas Sociales [online]. 2021, n.48, pp.182-206. ISSN 0040-2915.

This article proposes that, in what sociology puts forth concerning social/public problems, there are three central themes which are debated from various theoretical perspectives: a) how a problematization arises on the basis of articulation between subjective and objective dimensions via an active labor of definition of actos and institutions; b) how, in the public arena, the definition of a problematization which goes beyond a level of interacción is disputed and stabilized, implying its extension to a broader set of persons/publics; c) how a social/public problema accumulates in a procesual way a structure of cognitive and moral categories.

Keywords : social problems; public problems; symbolic interaccionism; genetic structuralism; pragmatism; functionalism.
