Abstract

RAMIREZ ALVAREZ, Sergio. White-collar worker's investments: an outline of the urban middle class in La Paz. Temas Sociales [online]. 2021, n.48, pp.40-68. ISSN 0040-2915.

In recent years various studies have appeared concerning the role of the middle class in the political sphere, despite the existence of very little data on social class stratification in Bolivia. In this context, this article presents some of the results of exploratory research on intergenerational social mobility in the city of La Paz, which outlines the present day urban middle class, on the basis of qualitative information obtained from the families of office workers.

Keywords : social stratification; white-collar workers; urban middle class; social capital; social mobility; housing.
