The article, supported by hemerographic documentation, presents the state of affairs that the prison system went through during the first five months since the appearance of the first registered case of Covid-19 in Bolivia. It describes the international recommendations applied to prevent and reduce the impact of the pandemic and summarizes the main actions and sanitary measures taken within prisions, the management of virtual court hearings and the process of promulgation of the Supreme Decree N° 4226 for pardon and amnesty.
