Abstract

MONTENEGRO PINTO, Álvaro. Changes in the Turkish Foreing Policy Towards the Middle East after the "Arab Spring". Temas Sociales [online]. 2020, n.46, pp.160-175. ISSN 0040-2915.

Turkish foreign policy underwent major changes after the "Arab Spring" of 2010. Previously, Turkish relations with neighboring countries such as Iraq and Syria were positive and were based on a realistic logic inherited since the fall of the Ottoman Empire. However, Turkey began to change the realistic approach for a liberal one and tried to shape the internal politics of other countries. This change damaged the image of "neutral" and "model" that the traditional non-interventionist Turkish foreign policy achieved in the past.

Keywords : Turkey; foreign policy; Arab Spring; AKP; Middle East; economic growth.
