Abstract

OJEDA COPA, Alex  and  PEREDO RODRIGUEZ, Valeria. Convergence between political and social misinformation in the 2019 electoral conflict in Bolivia. Temas Sociales [online]. 2020, n.46, pp.98-126. ISSN 0040-2915.

This article analyzes trends in the production and circulation of disinformation around the 2019 electoral conflict. We start from the analysis of a database of 336 fake news items collected and verified by Chequea Bolivia, a national news verification project. Predominant moments of political-electoral and social disinformation were found, but during the conflict these two types of disinformation converged, generating greater interaction.

Keywords : disinformation; social media; fake news; conflict over elections; social conflict.
