Abstract This qualitative research explores the construction of imaginaries in the Megacenter shopping centre, visited by many people from La Paz and El Alto since 2015 thanks to the opening of a nearby cable car station. It takes into consideration the forms of use of space, forms of interaction and features of differentiation. The research reveals the impact of a shopping centre on the social limits and underlying imaginaries between historically and socially distinct groups
