Abstract selling cooked food on the strect docs not require much investment and can be a good choice for work when need presses; however, taking this decision docs not only respond to a pressing situation, but also to a certain freedom of choice within limits imposed by social origin and an instituted framework of meaning which creates acceptancc of social destiny. The response to this fact is in the employment trajectory of these women food sellers, a trajectory marked by the sexual division of labour and the unequal distribution of opportunities.
