Abstract Temas Sociales, the Journal of the Department of Sociology at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, founded in 1968, has been in existence for 50 years, has published 42 issues and more than 400 articles. On the basis of a review of the intellectual production in this Journal, the purpose of this article is to identify structural features of sociology in Bolivia based on an analysis centered on its object of attention, the methodological procedures and the theoretical currents that constituted it in different historical periods.
