Abstract

AGUILAR SARAVIA, Fernando. Control of large scale mining in Bolivia as seen by salaried workers. Temas Sociales [online]. 2018, n.43, pp.67-96. ISSN 0040-2915.

Abstract This article describes experiences and points of view among workers in two cases, one of nationalized deep shaft mining and the other an open-pit private mine, in two settlements over the last decades, and with this, the extension and consolidation of social and environmental control by mining enterprises in Bolivia. Thus, new scenarios of control by the mine industry come into view: the expansion of salaried work in the territories of mining exploitation and a greater consolidation of the mining horizon among workers and local inhabitants.

Keywords : large scale mining in Bolivia; socio-environmental control; salaried workers; political frameworks.
