Abstract A brief analysis of the electoral behavior of the department of La Paz in the national elections of the last democratic period (1979-2009) shows us temporary stabilities, gradual changes and abrupt changes that have shaped the current electoral scenario. However, there are also some long-term constants that seem to correspond to a particular sociological configuration of the La Paz electorate. This is what we intend to analyze in this article and test some explanatory factors in this regard.
