Abstract This text deals with the system of the hacienda in Luribay, its economic and social relations; the strong apogee of grape cultivation, from the colony; the structure and activities of the haciendas dedicated to perennial and annual crops; the differentiation of crops among the haciendas; the fragmentation of land through inheritance and purchase of land; the social differentiation of the mistis patterns; the decay of some misti-class patterns and the emergence of colonist origin patterns; the segregation of settler patterns by the mistis patterns; the organization of labor on the haciendas, and the economic strategies of successful settlers.
