Resumen

PINTO SARAVIA, Vladimir. Bolivia: Towards An Age-Friendly Society. Temas Sociales [online]. 2017, n.40, pp.141-177. ISSN 0040-2915.

Abstract The objective of this article is to analyze the different models that refer to the establishment of cities that are friendly to older adults, making an approxima-tion to the concept of an age-friendly society and, in some way, influence their quality of life. According to the bibliographical review, models with the greatest recognition and development at the world level were selected for a qualitative analysis, contextualizing the aging process and urbanization through census infor-mation and population projections, conceptualizing the aging and active aging. The analysis of word frequency of the age-friendly models found that several of them focus only on health aspect. There is a model developed by the WHO called Age-friendly cities focused on active aging, which has a greater diffusion and could be a model to be analyzed in depth for its application in the Bolivian case.

Palabras clave : population distribution; population ageing; age-friendly place; active aging; urbanization.
