This article will attempt to explain in an exploratory manner the socioeconomic dynamics of buying and selling cell phones in the so-called "Chinatown" of the city of La Paz. The management of mobile telephony by different sectors of the population has been increasing, resulting in various forms of social use. The use of mobile phones by users are not simply reduced to making calls or sending messages, but also the ability to take pictures and videos, connect to the Internet or watch TV in this "small screen". But this new technology made it possible to increase the value of the equipment itself (being Smartphone) and acts of theft will increase by some kind of crime that subsequently sold in the informal market. In turn, these types of thefts are not reported by the population suffers from this action. In addition, several technicians who can change the codes of these devices so they can again circulate in the market, but the companies responsible for providing telecommunications services are affected.
