Abstract Critiques publications on community justice as based on normative versions and lacking studies of real cases, the crimes committed and the procedures applied to resolve them. Demonstrates the difficulty in getting access to real cases; even if one disposes of the books where they are registered, these barely note the final agreements and do not explain the previous facts of the case nor the context in which the crime occurred. Nor do they register the many demands which do not reach a solution. In this way they exaggerate both the effectiveness of community justice and its supposed otherness with respect to state justice.
