This essay deals with the traditional systems of coca leaf production in terraces in the district of Camata, Muñecas province, in the departament of La Paz. The essay aims to trace the origin of Andean coca plantations in historical documents, to the end of demonstrating the original, ancestral and traditional conditions of coca production. Likewise, it displays the actual conditions of coca production: productive technology, systems of cultivation and labour in the production of coca leaves
