This article deals with the evolution of a particular commercial area in the city of La Paz (Bolivia), the marketplace for consumer electronics Eloy Salmón. I examine the profile of the traders, their economic spatial strategies and cultural practices as well as interactions between traders and corporations. The aim of the text is to reconstruct territorial and cultural transformations of this space and to account for less known dimensions in the field of research on popular economies: the symbolic value created by the traders and their interrelation with other economic actors. The analysis is based on ethnographic work since 2013.
