POMA CHOQUE, Jhuliza Teresa. The role of affectivity in Environmental Education. Revista de Psicologia [online]. 2021, n.25, pp.101-112. ISSN 2223-3032.

Abstract This research exposes the development and application of an affective method for environmental education, applied with third-grade students of the Unidad Educativa Piloto Intervida Fe y Alegría, El Alto city, La Paz-Bolivia. This method, developed under the focus of environmental psychology and environmental education, is to promote affective bonds towards nature. The affective method consists of three phases: the cognitive phase, the affective phase and the active. The first is to make known the theory regarding the importance of the care of nature, ecosystem and guidelines of the care of ornamental plants. The affective and active phase begin with the adoption of ornamental plants, and with the execution of activities such as the elaboration of a newspaper, plant-shower, letter to the plant, among others; with the aim of developing an affective bond between students and their plant. This research is of an exploratory type, with a pre-experimental design, as it is a type of preliminary research that serves to increase knowledge on a little known or studied subject, in this case, the development of affectivity with ornamental plants and its application in environmental education. The research approach is mixed (quantitative-qualitative) due to the nature of the data obtained by participatory, non-participatory observation and the IOS scale to measure the level of student affectivity towards nature after intervention. The hypothesis was to see whether the application of the affective method generates the affective bond or not. All children developed affectivity towards their ornamental plant at different levels. Which promoted pro-environmental behaviors. It is therefore proposed to take into account the affective method in environmental education projects or programmes.
