Since globalization, organizations must face a competitive, innovative and knowledge management world. The objective of the study was to analyze the advances in educational quality related to quality management in higher education. Systematic review was employed using the PRISMA statement as a method. The search was carried out in the Scopus, EBsCO and ProQuest databases, identifying 140 publications from the last five years, 40 publications contribute to the advances of educational quality in higher education, the 40 publications were reviewed using the content analysis technique. It was concluded that the approach to educational quality in HEIs has been advancing and strengthening, unlike in previous years. Quality in HEIs is in the process of consolidation; so far progress has been made in generating academic standards and strategies for quality assurance, but these are insufficient.
