Abstract

MANRIQUE, Reynaldo Francisco Cherrepano; CHANG, Yasmin Jesús Vélez  and  CARDENAS, José Antonio Legua. KOH neutralization of fish oil to obtain a fertilizer effluent. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.16, pp.120-129.  Epub Mar 30, 2022. ISSN 2664-0902.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v6i16.154.

The present proposal is to convert an effluent into an economic resource, for this purpose experimental tests were carried out at the laboratory level, where neutralization was tested in the refining of fish oil, potassium hydroxide as a neutralizing agent that is proposed to replace potassium hydroxide sodium, currently used by the oil industry to neutralize the free acidity of crude fish oil. When neutralizing with potassium hydroxide to reduce the free acidity of the oils, and washing the oil and neutralizing the acidity of these waters with ammonium hydroxide, a mixed solution with fertilizing properties is obtained.

To show the fertilizing properties of this obtained mixture, they were used as a foliar fertilizer applied to the radish crop, for which field experimentation was carried out, the installation was made using the Completely Random Block Design, with five treatments.

Keywords : Neutralization with KOH; Fish oil; Fertilization.
