Abstract

TELLEZ RAMIREZ, Marisol. Computational Thinking: A competence of the 21 st Century. Edu. Sup. Rev. Cient. Cepies [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.1, pp.23-32. ISSN 2518-8283.

Abstract As a result of the massive incursion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in all life fields and particularly in education, it is necessary to work on new competences that students must develop in the 21st century, including Computational Thinking, which is not only a competence per se, but a versatile process that must prepare students to function in an increasingly technological world. In a first approach to the development of Computational Thinking, this study looks for: (a) The connotations that educators have when developing this type of thinking from their experiences and classroom practices with ICT, (b) The characteristics which make it propitious as a competence in the 21st Century; and (c) The practices which make it functional in different educational levels, such is the case of Educational Robotics.

Keywords : 21 st century competences; Computational Thinking; Educational Robotics; Information and Communication Technologies.
