Abstract

HILARI, Miguel. Cinema and Legends: Emerging Rural Production. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2018, vol.22, n.41, pp.159-170. ISSN 2077-3323.

The article highlights the emergence of a new trend of cinema since the advent of digital technology and the ensuing lowering of costs. As a cultural expression of the working classes, the sphere of action of these films is outside that of the guild of filmmakers and their modes of production, outside the regulations of the State and of the formal screening market in commercial cinemas. The pioneer of this movement is Centro de Formación y Realización Cinematográfica (CEFREC), founded in 1989. To illustrate this new form of production, two films are examined and compared: the short film Q'ati Q'ati (Susurros de muerte) (1998) by Reynaldo Yujra and El zorro y la pastora (2011).
