Garlic on the productive parameters and morphometry in guinea pings. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.17, pp.310-316.  Epub Aug 02, 2022. Certain properties of garlic have the ability to act as food for the various good bacteria in the intestine, generating interest in the study. The prebiotic effect of garlic on productive parameters and intestinal morphometry in guinea pigs was evaluated using 90 weaned male guinea pigs, distributed under a Complete Randomized Design in three treatments: T0 (Control), T1 (Garlic 0.5%), T2 (Garlic 1%) per kilo of concentrate, including three replicates per treatment and ten animals per replicate. The variables studied were: weight gain, feed intake, feed efficiency, carcass yield, mortality percentage, height and width of intestinal villi, and Lieberkühn's crypt depth. The nutritional program, sanitary plan and house environmental parameters were similar for all experimental units. The results did not report significant statistical differences (p>0.05) between treatments on the productive parameters of the guinea pigs and intestinal morphometry; however, a numerical difference was determined, with treatment T2 (Garlic 1%) having the best morphometric and productive parameters of the guinea pigs from the third week of the experiment. It is concluded that the addition of garlic in the guinea pig feed ration has a positive impact on the productive behavior and intestinal morphometry of the guinea pigs.
