Abstract

VASQUEZ ROCHA, Hernán. Music as a matter of state: the relationship between Esterházy and Haydn. Punto Cero [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.22, pp.9-17. ISSN 1815-0276.

Which circumstances and factors intervened to make Joseph Haydn one of the pillars of classical music, father of the symphony and one of the great music composers and also the first musician of the Austrian Empire? The analysis will have a double treatment: in general, we will see the relationship between states, society, and music; and, in its specificity, the social relationship expressed in power Courtesan Prince Esterházy and the subject of the Court, F. J. Haydn, musician chapel master.

Keywords : Power; music; Europe.
